Vrijdag gaat de Frieslandcup (Star Class) van start. Na de reeds gepubliceerde lijst met deelnemers werd nu ook het voorlopig programma bekend gemaakt. Er worden blijkbaar slechts 2 afstanden afgewerkt over 3 dagen. Concreet voor de junioren C meisjes bvb : 2 ritten 1000m op vrijdag. Finale 1000m (voorzien om 11u28, warming-up om 09u00 :-/) en heats 500m op zaterdag. Op zondag de halve finale en finale 500m en voor de ‘kleintjes’ programma afgelopen omstreeks 10u00. Geen superfinales… Wat karig op drie volle dagen, niet ? De kinderen een dag van school houden, papa verlof nemen, hotelverblijf,… Ze hebben het daar vroeger nog beter (vb. enkel de groteren op vrijdagavond) in elkaar geknutseld me dunkt.

Nochthans staat in de ‘conditions of contest’ van de Star Class regulations het volgende te lezen :
The StarClass Competitions are held over the following distances :
- StarClass & Seniors 500, 1000 and 1500 m
- Junior A,B,C 500, 1000 and 1500 m 
- Junior Novice 500, 777 and 1000 m
The program of each competition shall include  ALL  3 distances which must be skated according to the All-Final System. For the Overall Classification  points (Final Points) are only awarded in the Final ‘A’. 
Note: in the Finals for Category ‘Junior C’ the A and B finals shall be over 1500m all other finals/qualifying rounds can be skated over 1000m. Similarly in the Category ‘Novice’ the A and B finals shall be over 1000m all others can be skated over 777m. The Distance Classification and the Overall Classification will be made according to ISU Regulations.

Tenslotte staat in het programma nog : ‘NOTE: this is a preliminary program that may be changed!’ I truly hope they do…
